**DATE CHANGE** 2024 Learn to Sail Course
Quannapowitt Yacht Club offers a 5-week sailing program designed to give students the basics of sailing in a fun, supportive and safe environment. The program is limited to 14 students, to ensure each student receives plenty of one-on-one guidance on the water. Each weekly session is two hours long, with a maximum of two students per boat (420) or 4 students per boat (Mercury/Daysailer).
Throughout the five week program, members of QYC's Instructor staff (click here for bios) will cover the fundamentals of sailing including:
- Points of sail and important terminology
- Parts of the boat & rigging
- Tacking and jibing
- Basic navigation and sail shape control
- Pulling away from the dock; returning to the dock
This is the perfect experience for beginner sailors who want to see if sailing is right for them, or simply try a new activity and learn a new skill.
Our Learn to Sail course is taught on a variety of boats that may include Mercurys, 420s, and Day Sailers.
Lessons are recommended for ages 15 and up. Younger sailors may participate in the program with a parent.
